News release from the TinCaps:

Update on Parkview Field’s Off-Season Projects
Preparations Are Picking Up for Opening Night on April 9th

(February 2, 2016) — The appearance of the sun and “mild” temperatures in Fort Wayne this week have been a welcomed reminder that spring isn’t far off. And neither is TinCaps baseball. But while Opening Night at Parkview Field may not be here until Saturday, April 9 (when the TinCaps host the Cleveland Indians-affiliated Lake County Captains at 6:05 p.m.), preparations are in full swing to have the downtown ballpark ready for its eighth season.

In the last week, steel has gone up atop The Tuthill 400 Club for the construction of The Summit presented by Tuthill. The project for the newest group seating area at Parkview Field is on schedule to be finished before Opening Night.

Work also has begun to resurface Parkview Field’s concourse. The concourse areas along the baselines will be finished by the start of the season, while resurfacing of the concourse behind home plate will take place at a later time. Please note that as the concourse is resurfaced, Parkview Field will remain open daily as a public park from 7:00 a.m. until dusk; however, some sections will be restricted.

Additionally, Parkview Field is installing expanded protective netting to the far ends of both dugouts. Weather permitting, the netting should be in place by the middle of February.

“Despite awards won in the past, we realize we must continuously work to improve Parkview Field so it remains a top-notch facility for our fans,” TinCaps President Mike Nutter said. “With the upgrades we have coming for 2016, I think this season should be our best one yet.”

Parkview Field has been ranked by Stadium Journey as the No. 1 Ballpark Experience in Minor League Baseball four of the last five years, including 2014 and 2015.

Beyond hosting TinCaps baseball, Parkview Field is also home to more than 600 non-baseball events each year. These special events range from Fort4Fitness to concerts, from Fort Wayne’s Farmers Market to wedding receptions, and much in between.

The TinCaps recently released the team’s 2016 Promotional Schedule. Single game TinCaps tickets for the 2016 season go on sale Wednesday, February 17, while season tickets and tickets for group outings are already on sale. To purchase tickets or find out more, fans can call 260-482-6400 or visit Box Score.

And with the season nearing, the team continues to accept applications for part-time, seasonal employees.
