News release from the Fort Wayne Dance Collective:

Fort Wayne Dance Collective Presents: Choreographer’s Lab
Dancers and Choreographers wanted for a free 12-week intensive!

(January 25, 2016) — Fort Wayne Dance Collective is offering a 12-week intensive in the craft of choreography and dance making, open to the community of Fort Wayne and free of charge.

Join Fort Wayne Dance Collective Artistic Director, John Byrne during this comprehensive series that will guide emerging choreographers and dancers through the process of making original dance works. Choreographers will be encouraged to create original material with participating dancers while finding their unique movement style and vocabulary. Choreographers’ work will be showcased in the performances on April 23 and 24, 2016 at Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s Elliott Studio Theater.

All participants will be provided with access to costumes, lighting and sound technology and a technical director for the performances, which will take place at FWDC’s Elliot Studio Theater. Take advantage of this unique program offered by the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, as inspired by university-level dance composition course.

Instructor John Byrne is a graduate of The North Carolina School of the Arts. John began his training at the Juilliard School and The School of American Ballet where he worked with and performed works by Twyla Tharp, Lar Lubovitch, and David Dorfman.
