News release from Fort Wayne Metals:

Fort Wayne Metals partners with local family and organizations to help residents in Flint, MI

(January 26, 2016) – In April 2014, the City of Flint began drawing drinking water from the polluted Flint River, resulting in corrosion of piping and release of lead into the city’s drinking water supply. The lead contamination has caused multiple deaths and lead poisoning in thousands of children. In order to contribute aid, Fort Wayne Metals has partnered with Flint, Michigan native Alicia (Harrison) O’Neal and her family, along with local organizations to deliver water to those affected by the ongoing disaster.

Organizations donating water and storage space include: McMillen Park Community Center, AMO Office Supply, Snyder Food Services, Current Mechanical, Ace Grinding, Applied Thermal Technologies, SES Environmental Consulting, Design Collaborative, Beckman Lawson, the Indiana Tech chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, Ivy Tech Community College North Campus, Come As You Are Community Church, Pickleball Association of Fort Wayne, and Kroger Marketplace in the Village of Coventry.

If you would like to be involved in this collection, please contact Korinda Walls of Fort Wayne Metals at (260) 399-2103. In addition to a need for water, we are seeking storage space, and transportation options. All donations must be received by 5pm on February 9, 2016.
