News release from Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation:

Southern Style Cooking: Healthy Soul Food

(January 25, 2016) — The public is invited to Southern Style Cooking: Healthy Soul Food, a free cooking demonstration at McMillen Park Community Center Thursday, February 11, 11 am – 12 pm. Parkview’s Chef Ryan will show the audience how easy it is to prepare healthier Southern style recipes with all the flavors we love and ingredients that are reasonably priced. Chicken gumbo, braised collard greens and cornbread are on the menu. Parkview Dietitian Michelle Bojrab will also be on hand with more tips on how to add nutrition to our meals without losing flavor. Three attendees will win a bag of groceries with ingredients to make their own meal of chicken gumbo, braised collard greens and cornbread.

No pre-registration is necessary. Just mark your calendar and plan to attend. Contact McMillen Park Community Center at 427-2420 for more information.

Southern Style Cooking: Healthy Soul Food is sponsored by Operation F4 (Fight for a Fitter Fort), Parkview Health and the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department. It is the first of an ongoing wellness series at McMillen Park Community Center.
