Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show Expands with Two New Events This Weekend
(January 19, 2016) — The 7th Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show will now fill an additional 30,000 square feet of Fort Wayne’s Memorial Coliseum with the addition of Beer & Bacon Fest and Get Fit Expo. The events will take place this weekend starting on Friday, January 22 with the Beer & Bacon Fest and the Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show.
Beer & Bacon Fest, presented by Federated Media, takes place in the all-new Conference Center at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Friday, January 22 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature craft beer from several micro-brews and sizzling bacon-inspired food pairings along with live music, caricatures and a silent auction to benefit Honor Flight Northeast Indiana. Attendees will also get free access to the Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show.
Get Fit Expo, presented by the Lutheran Health Network and WANE-TV, will take place in the Memorial Coliseum Expo Center Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24. The event features dozens of health and fitness vendors with apparel and gear, a Sport Wayne obstacle course, a 3-point basketball shooting contest, discounted pre-registration for 2016 Fort4Fitness events, seminars, Tai Chi demonstrations and CPR demonstrations.
For those looking to shed some pounds, tone up or improve performance in the New Year, the Lutheran Health Network pavilion will provide a 21-day challenge. There will be information on how to build healthy habits and lose weight. Sports performance experts will be there and tips on injury prevention will be presented. Visitors can take advantage of health screenings, glucose checks, fitness tests, video gait analysis and take away recommended exercises for those who struggle with back pain.
The Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show will start Friday, January 22 and end on Sunday, January 24. The show will feature RV’s, travel trailers, boats, all things fishing, kayaks, off-road vehicles and daily lumberjack shows. There will be 9 lumberjack performances, which have previously been seen on television shows like ABC’s “Wide World of Sports” and Discovery Channel’s “The Travelers.” Entertainment includes a 45-foot high climb, ax throwing, log rolling, cross-cutting and hot sawing. Local National Guard, Army, Navy and Air Force branches will compete against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
During all 3 days, more than 100 outdoor sport and recreation exhibitors will offer show-only specials, goods and services related to: vacation and travel, hiking and biking, fishing and hunting, camping, boating, water and motorsports, cottage living and more.
Guests can enter-to-win a 16-foot Coleman camper valued at $15,000 during all 3 days.
A wide range of activities are available for people of all ages such as: zip lining, bicycle and kayak rides, archery, BB gun and air rifle range, fly-fishing lessons, new Dutch oven cooking demonstrations, live chainsaw carvings and how-to seminars. Children can get a photograph with Spiderman on Friday and Saturday.
You can also fish at “Grandpa Doc’s Fishing Hole,” which will raise money for the Riley Children’s Foundation. All youth fish for free when accompanied by a grandparent. From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, kids can fish, shoot air rifles and ride the zip lines all for free.
Tickets are $10 at the door for adults, and $5 for active/veteran military and for Mizpah Shrine Circus attendees with a valid ticket stub. Every ticket includes access into the Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show and Get Fit Expo. Children 12 and under are free and Coliseum parking is $5. A $2 off coupon can be downloaded and printed off SportsandCabinShow.com but cannot be combined with other promotions.
Beer & Bacon Fest tickets are available on BeerBaconFest.org in advance only. Admission is $25 each for ages 21+ (or $40 a couple), and designated drivers 21+ are $15.
