News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:
Barricaded Subject, 2200 block of Cedarwood Way
Date/Time of Incident: 1/09/2016 at 7:26 a.m.
Location of Incident: 2200 block of Cedarwood Way
Subject: Adult Male
On Saturday January 9, 2016 at approximately 7:26 AM officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence located in the 2200 block of Cedarwood Way in reference to a subject making suicide threats. Officers on the scene advised that the subject was inside the residence and refused to come outside. It was unknown if the subject was armed with a weapon. Officers made several attempts to communicate with the subject and ask him to come outside. After several minutes of unsuccessful attempts to have the subject come outside, members with the Fort Wayne Police Departments Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Teams were dispatched to the scene.
Members with the Crisis Response Team made communication with the subject by telephone asking him once again to come outside and speak with officers.A short time later, the subject exited the house and surrendered to officers. The subject was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
