Tonight’s weather story from the National Weather Service:
Rain and snow this weekend
(January 8, 2016) – A winter storm watch is in effect for areas northwest of a Monticello to Hillsdale, MI line. Storm total snowfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches of snow are expected in the watch area with locally higher amounts possible, especially in Michigan. Precipitation will start out as rain Saturday afternoon and change to snow from west to east across the southern Great Lakes. The approximate timing of the rain/snow line is depicted by the dashed line in the graphic. Areas east of this line will be rain with areas west of the line all snow. Treacherous travel can be expected even in areas with lower snowfall amounts due to cold temperatures refreezing roadways behind this system.
