Fatal Accident Investigation, Ardmore Avenue and Covington Road

Details:
On Sunday December 6, 2015 at approximately 4:23 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a personal injury accident on Ardmore just north of Covington Road. As officers arrived on the scene, they located a vehicle that was off the roadway on the east side of the street on fire. Fire personnel arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. Paramedics arrived on the scene and located two victims inside the car that were pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the extensive damage to the vehicle, investigators were not sure if there were additional victims inside the vehicle.
Witnesses told investigators that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Ardmore at a high rate of speed as the vehicle left the roadway and collided with several trees and poles before catching on fire.
Investigators believe speed may be a contributing factor in the crash and were not sure if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The names of the victims will be released by the Allen County Coroners Office.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T Team, Allen County Prosecutors Office, and the Allen County Coroners Office.
