IPFW Students Explore Careers in Counseling, Community Health as Part of Immersion Excursion

(November 18, 2015) — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) students will continue their career exploration experience outside the usual Internet search, classroom presentation, or panel discussion. IPFW Career Services’ third Immersion Excursion program takes place November 20 with a visit to Northeastern Center, a local organization that helps individuals achieve emotional and mental wholeness through accessible, affordable, and quality behavioral health services.

Career Services half-day immersion trips take approximately 15 students and faculty members within the walls of the selected regional companies in a variety of industries, giving them a ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse into company operations.

“The opportunity to network and learn from area companies that are leaders in their industry is an invaluable experience for our students,” said Ashley Calderon, director of IPFW Career Services. “Northeastern Center is a not-for-profit organization that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others in the northeast Indiana community.”

Other high profile local employers will be visited at their operating facilities during the fall semester, including:
