News release from the University of Saint Francis:

USF Dedicates New Solar Carport

(November 5, 2015) — The University of Saint Francis is dedicating its newly constructed solar carport on Wednesday, November 11, 4-5:30 p.m., at the USF campus, 2701 Spring Street.

This project is one of four Fort Wayne solar energy projects that received grant funding totaling $88,732.50 from the Solar Uniting Neighbors (SUN) Program. The SUN Program was created in 2014 to offer technical and financial assistance to install small solar projects in the Indiana Michigan (I&M) Power electric service territory.

The dedication ceremony will begin outside USF’s Achatz Hall of Science with remarks from project director Dr. Paul Schmidt, assistant professor in the USF Department of Chemistry. Next, the carport will be blessed and those in attendance will be able to explore the new structure.

The rest of the ceremony will take place inside Achatz Hall as attendees learn about renewable energy and special energy-focused summer camps through USF and Science Central.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.
