Moscow Ballet’s 2015 Great Russian Nutcracker to feature Internationally Acclaimed Dancers
Karyna Shatkovskaya and Vladimir Tkachenko(October 29, 2015) – Called “A Christmas tale from a faraway Land of Snow and Ice” by New York Times dance critic Brian Seibert in 2014, Moscow Ballet’s principal dancers and production values raise the ante for the performance experience on 2015 coast-to-coast tour.
Multiple award-winning principal ballerina Karyna Shatkovskaya and principal danseur Vladimir Tkachenko, hailing from one of the world’s best ballet academies, deliver performances that engage audiences of all ages from small towns to top demographic markets. Los Angeles Times Dance Critic Lewis Segal says, “Karyna Shatkovskaya [showed] faultless mastery of the steps and a floating jump. Vladimir Tkachenko contributed bravura expertise.” And from Canada: “technically supreme dancing, opulent and beautifully detailed costumes,” Calgary Herald, 2014.

Karyna Shatkovskaya is a multiple award-winning principal ballerina. In 2009 she was recognized with an award in the prestigious Second International Ballet Competition (IBC) in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan and in 2010 became overall Ukrainian State Prize Winner. At the age of 9 she received her first award at the Kharkov Ballet Competition and two years later she received a Diploma of Ukrainian Youth Ballet, sanctioned by UNESCO. She received a Diploma of the First International Children and Youth Classical Dance Competition in Yalta, and thirdprize of the Second International Competition of Youth in Yalta. In 2000 she won second prize and received an award at the Third International Children and Youth Classical Dance Competition.
Vladimir Tkachenko was born in Kharkov, Ukraine, and in 2006 graduated with honors from the prestigious Perm Choreographic School, in the class of V. Alikina. The repertoire of the theaterincludes masterpieces of the most distinguished choreographers of the 20th Century. Upon graduation from Perm Vladimir was offered a position at the State Kremlin Ballet of Moscow and made his professional debut that September in La Esmeralda as the Hunchback Quasimodo.
