Wells County Economic Development Announces Executive Director’s Resignation

Bluffton, IN (October 19, 2015) – The Wells County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Board of Directors have announced the resignation of Tim Ehlerding, Wells County Economic Development Executive Director, from this leadership position effective October 30, 2015. Ehlerding has accepted the position of Corporate Accounts Manager for the Northeast United States for Varco Pruden Buildings, a steel building system supplier with home offices in Memphis, Tennessee. Ehlerding will start his duties with Varco Pruden November 1st, and will be based in Decatur, IN.

Ehlerding, who has lead the business retention, expansion, and attraction efforts in Wells County since 2012, stated, “There is little doubt the people and leadership of Wells County are some of the best in the State, and being part of this team is something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.” Ehlerding lead specific efforts in workforce development, the food cluster, and economic development project financing while serving the communities. In 2014, the County announced more than $370 million in expansions and new industrial development and the addition of more than 350 new jobs. In that same year, the county’s first foreign direct investment in more than 10 years was announced with the selection by Haldrup USA to house their North American operations in the Ossian Industrial Park. To date in 2015, more than $100 million in expansions were added to this Northeast Indiana community, and in the same year the City of Bluffton announced the completion of a 200,000 square foot spec/shell building targeting manufacturing and distribution companies. “Partnerships between leaders in the public and the private sectors take place daily in Wells County…this is the sole reason for this community’s long list of successes,” Ehlerding added.
