Immersion Excursion Gives IPFW Students Career Exploration Experience

(September 25, 2015) — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) students will soon get ready for a career exploration experience outside the usual Internet search, classroom presentation, or panel discussion. IPFW Career Services will launch the Immersion Excursion program on September 25 with a visit to Vera Bradley, an international retail design company and distributor known for their one-of-a-kind designs and amazing quality.
The half-day immersion trips will take approximately 15 students and faculty members within the walls of the selected regional companies covering a variety of industries, giving them a ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse into company operations.

“Students can expect to be greeted by staff, tour the facility, connect with professionals, and discover the workplace first-hand,” said Ashley Calderon, director of IPFW Career Services. “This is a good opportunity to feel out a company they might be interested in and network with their representatives about a possible internship or full-time position.”

Other high profile local employers will be visited at their operating facilities during the fall semester, including:

  • MedPro Group – October 16th
  • Northeastern Center – November 20th
  • Extension Healthcare – December 11th

For more information, contact Calderon at 260-481-6591 or calderoa@ipw.edu. To register for a specific immersion excursion, log onto JobZone and select the events tab.
