Critical Injury Shooting, 604 East Lewis Street

Time: 12:45 p.m.

Location: 604 E. Lewis – Cap-n-Cork Liquor’s

Details:

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the Cap-n-Cork Liquor Store located at 604 E. Lewis Street at 12:45 p.m. this afternoon on the report of a shooting. Responding officers were given additional information indicating that two individuals were seen leaving the scene, one in what was described as a blue passenger car and the second on foot.

The departing passenger car was stopped by responding officers at the intersection of Hanna and Wallace Streets and without incident its driver detained. The second subject was stopped by officers two blocks south of the incident at the intersection of Hanna and Hayden Streets. Once inside the Cap-n-Cork officers found a male victim down and in critical condition. He was transported to a local hospital where it was confirmed that he was in critical condition.

Investigators have learned that a disturbance had taken place inside of the store involving as many as three to four individuals prior to the shooting. No arrest has been made at this time.

This Incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
