USF to host Beth Dlug, Allen County Director of Elections, for Constitution Day

(September 15, 2015) — The University of Saint Francis will be hosting its annual Constitution Day event on Thursday, September 17, 2015, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the North Campus Auditorium. This year’s speaker is Beth Dlug, the Director of Elections for Allen County.

Dlug will be speaking about the history of events that led to the Constitutional amendments that affected voting rights. Her presentation, “Vote for Them” will also cover current voting trends, such as voter turnout and why voting is important to the continued health of our democracy. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Going hand-in-hand with Ms. Dlug’s presentation is a voter registration campaign, being conducted with the assistance of Rock the Vote. From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the North Campus Foyer, students and members of the community are invited to register to vote before and after the “Vote for Them” presentation. Voter registration campaigns are also being held on the USF campus the weeks of September 14 and 21, 2015.
