News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House Fire, 615 Fifth Street
(September 9, 2015) – Early this morning the FT Wayne FD was called to a reported house fire in the 600 block of Fifth St. A family of 6 had already evacuated when the first fire units arrived to see flames blowing from a second floor window. Units advanced quickly and knocked the fire down before it spread to other areas of the house. A pet cat was found in the house by firefighters and brought out safely. The fire was contained to one room and the smoke contained to the second floor.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The FWFD was assisted by I & M, NIPSCO, NCE TRAA & the Red Cross.
