Carroll High School students to have artwork honored
A special exhibition will display work in Washington, DC.(August 31, 2015) – Eight Carroll High School students have had their work selected to be in a special exhibition at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Department of Education Building in Washington, DC, along with other National 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing National Gold and Silver Key Award winners. This event is being held by The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, which sponsors the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.
The exhibition, in conjunction with ART.WRITE.NOW.DC, will feature 29 works of art from the Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio Region of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards – presented by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
Carroll students to be included in the exhibition are 2015 graduates Anna Anderson, Haley Schrock, Hannah Engelsrud, Taylor Terrell as well as current seniors Keelan Koehne, Cierra Alonzo, Shelby Thomas, Audrey Ottenweller, and freshman Carolyn Frey.
The honored students, along with their family and other guests, have been invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of ART.WRITE.NOW.DC Exhibition on Friday, September 25. In addition to the ceremony, the day’s activities will include student and educator workshops, as well as special docent-led museum tours in the afternoon. Several of the invited Carroll High School students are planning to attend the events around the ceremony and see their works displayed.
This special exhibition will run from September 14 until October 30 at The Lyndon Baines Johnson Department of Education Building, 400 Maryland Avenue S.W., Washington, DC, across from the National Air & Space Museum. Following the special exhibition, the artwork will be displayed as part of a year-long traveling exhibition of selected works by 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Medalists.
