Student-run Kelty’s Kafé commences new semester this month at Ivy Tech Northeast

(September 4, 2015) – Kelty’s Kafé, a student-run deli at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, will kick off Sept. 9 with a student-crafted menu around the theme “The Old West.”

Kelty’s Kafé, which welcomes both students and the community, is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. most Wednesdays during the fall semester. It is located in Anthony Commons on Coliseum Campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd.

Each week, a different student in the Bakery Merchandising class chooses a theme and creates a menu for the lunch spot. Classmates run the entire operation, from cash register to cooking.

The first deli will offer the following menu:

ENTREES

  • Skirt steak sandwich
  • Chicken in a biscuit
  • Pork and beans chili

SIDES

  • Southwest radish slaw
  • Deep fried polenta sticks

BAKERY ITEMS

  • Ciabatta buns
  • Biscuits
  • S’more cheese cake
  • Fresh baked apple pie
  • Maple bacon cookies
  • Dulce de leche cookies
  • Pumpkin whoopee pies with chai tea cream cheese filling
  • Chocolate chili cupcakes
  • Mocha cupcakes
