Game recap from the TinCaps:

17-game home win streak ends

(August 28, 2015) – The TinCaps were flummoxed by Lake County pitching and fell 1-0 at Parkview Field, snapping the team’s record 17-game home winning streak. Coupled with a West Michigan loss on Friday night, Fort Wayne still remains four games up on the Whitecaps for first place in the Eastern Division with 10 games left.

A crowd of 7,882 made it out to ballpark, the 22nd sellout of the season. There have been 20 crowds of over 7,000 fans at Parkview Field in 2015.

TinCaps starter Pete Kelich (L, 2-2) was superb over five innings, but allowed the game’s lone run. Taylor Murphy walked with one out in the fourth inning, advanced to second base on a groundout, and later scored when Francisco Mejia doubled to deep center field.

Aaron Cressley and Kyle McGrath kept the home team in it the final four innings. The pair shut out the Captains in four combined innings.

Fort Wayne’s biggest chance to score came in the seventh. Ruddy Giron and Franmil Reyes both reached base to start the frame against starter Justus Sheffield (W, 9-4). He was then removed after Franchy Cordero dropped down a successful sacrifice bunt to move the runners up a base. With the tying and winning runs in scoring position, Lake County reliever Cameron Hill retired the next two hitters to end the threat.

Fort Wayne – needing just one win to clinch a playoff berth – has to wait one more day. The club can do it on Saturday night against the Captains at 7:05 p.m. It’s the final game of a three-game series.

Dinelson Lamet (5-6, 2.93) starts for Fort Wayne and faces Lake County scheduled starter Casey Shane (0-0, 0.00), who makes his Midwest League debut.

You can watch the action on Comcast Network 81 starting at 7:00 p.m. or listen in on ESPN Radio 1380, Box Score, and the TuneIn Radio app starting at 6:45 p.m.
