Police Action Shooting Robbery in Progress

Suspect 1: Anthony Gant M/43, Fort Wayne/Critical but Stable Condition
Suspect 2: Christopher D. Johnson M/31, Active Warrants-Additional Charges Pending

Fort Wayne police responded to the report of an armed robbery in progress at the Dollar General Store located at 3121 E. State Boulevard at 8:16 p.m. this evening. Shortly after officers arrived they were confronted by the two suspects at the front door of the business. Shots were fired hitting one of the two suspects. The uninjured suspect ran south crossing State Boulevard but was eventually apprehended in the 2200 block of Senior Drive.
Investigators have learned that the store employee and a customer were confronted by an armed suspect who demanded money and cigarettes. After receiving their loot the suspects bound their victims utilizing zip ties then left the store where they were confronted by officers.
The three officers on scene during the police action shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave which is protocol. Indiana State Police as a result of the police action shooting are conducting their own parallel investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police, Indiana State Police, and the Allen County Prosecutors office.
