Rolling slow-downs scheduled for I-69 and I-469 today

News release from INDOT:

Rolling Slow-Downs Scheduled for I-69 and I-469 on Sunday, August 23rd
Drivers will experience traffic slow-downs, lane restrictions and ramp closures on I-69 and on I-469

(August 20, 2015) – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that motorists can expect rolling slow-downs and ramp closures on Interstate 69 and Interstate 469 throughout the day, Sunday, Aug. 23, weather permitting. The traffic slow-downs are needed to allow American Electric Power contractors to install spacers on power lines over the interstate, near the I-69/I-469 north interchange.

A series of up to four rolling slow-downs will take place Sunday with the assistance of law enforcement. The slowdowns will be on I-69 southbound from mile marker 319 to 315; I-69 northbound from mile marker 311 to 315; and I-469 northbound from mile marker 29 to the I-69 interchange. The slow-downs, which will take motorists down to 10 mph or below, will create traffic voids to allow for installing the spacers safely over the highway.

The operation will also require the restriction of the far left lane of I-69 in both directions, at mile marker 315, as well as the temporary closure of several exit ramps. Ramps to be closed during the rolling roadblocks include both ramps from Coldwater Road to I-69 northbound; the ramp from Union Chapel Road to I-69 southbound; the ramp from S.R. 1/Dupont Road to I-69 southbound; and both ramps from Maplecrest Road to I-469 northbound.

Electronic message boards will alert motorists of the rolling slowdown. Drivers may wish to seek an alternate route. If weather is unfavorable, a rain date will be set for a future date.

Drivers are reminded to use caution in the area, ramp work continues on I-69 northbound to I-469 eastbound.
