News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House Fire, 4000 block of Hoagland Avenue
(August 10, 2015) – FWFD units responded to a reported house fire in the 4000 block of Hoagland Avenue this afternoon. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from a 2 story home with the occupants standing outside. Crews made a quick interior attack on the fire in the basement and were able to put it under control within 7 minutes.
No injuries were reported by the occupants or firefighters, but 2 parakeets perished due to smoke conditions.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
Crews were assisted by: FWPD, NCE, NIPSCO and AEP.
