Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident

Victim: Adult Male, Deceased on Scene
Details:
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded yesterday afternoon to the intersection of McKinnie Avenue and McMillen Park Drive at approximately 2:45 p.m. on multiple 911 calls reporting an injury accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
Officers arrived to find the motorcyclist down in the intersection unresponsive. Medics and fire personnel declared the cyclist dead on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, the only occupant of the vehicle was uninjured in the accident.
Investigators believe based upon several witness accounts that the cyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on McKinnie Avenue when it impacted broadside with the pickup truck which was making a left hand turn to go south on McMillen Park Drive.
McKinnie Avenue was shut down in both directions during the investigation, reopening at approximately 5:00 p.m. The identity of the victim will be released by the Allen Coroner’s office when appropriate to do so.
This investigation is being conducted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
