Game recap from the TinCaps:

Tired TinCaps drop opener at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (July 24, 2015) – The reward for the TinCaps after a 7-1 win at Lake County on Thursday was an overnight, eight-hour bus ride here. So perhaps unsurprisingly, Fort Wayne, playing its seventh of nine consecutive games on the road, looked like a tired team in a 3-2 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Friday night at Bowling Green Ballpark.

Riley Unroe broke a 2-2 tie in favor of the home team in the seventh with a two-out single to score Carter Burgess.

Fort Wayne (15-14, 47-50) had once held a brief, 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning. Catcher Michael Miller hit a double off the left-field fence to score third baseman Luis Tejada to tie the game, 1-1. Later in the frame, second baseman Luis Urias hit an opposite-field, two-out single to plate Miller and give the TinCaps a lead.

Bowling Green (15-14, 51-48), however, leveled the game in the next half inning when Grant Kay singled in Thomas Milone, who had doubled. The Hot Rods scored the game’s first run in the first inning in unearned fashion.

Left-hander Travis Radke started on the mound for the TinCaps and went six innings in his Midwest League debut. Radke struck out six. Meanwhile, his counterpart, Henry Centeno, fanned 11, including the first six Fort Wayne batters he faced.

Jordan Harrison (W, 1-0) pitched three scoreless innings out of the pen for Bowling Green. T.J. Weir (L, 3-3) struck out two in two innings for the visitors.

The TinCaps and Hot Rods play the middle-game of their series on Saturday night at 8:05. In a meeting of Midwest League Eastern Division All-Stars, Fort Wayne is in line to start left-hander Thomas Dorminy (7-7, 3.75) against righty Chris Pike (8-3, 3.48). The game can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380, Box Score, and the TuneIn Radio app.
