Game recap from the TinCaps:

Fort Wayne flounders Wednesday afternoon

EASTLAKE, Ohio (July 22, 2015) – Fort Wayne floundered against the Lake County Captains in a 3-0 loss at Classic Park on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. Third baseman Luis Tejada had two hits for the TinCaps.

Lake County (11-15, 47-47) scored an unearned run in the fourth and two in the fifth, while Fort Wayne was shutout for the second time in three days. The Captains held an 8-3 advantage in hits on the day.

Michael Kelly (L, 5-3) allowed six not very hard-hit hits over four-plus innings. Three of those hits were bunts and a fourth didn’t leave the infield either. Out of the bullpen, lefty Taylor Cox and Aaron Cressley both tossed two scoreless innings.

Meanwhile, Thomas Pannone (W, 5-4) tied a career high with nine strikeouts across six frames. Justin Garcia (H, 3) pitched two perfect innings of relief and Caleb Hamrick (S, 1) hammered down a 1-2-3 ninth. TinCaps hitters struck out 12 times.

Fort Wayne (14-13, 46-49), which is five games into a nine-game road trip, has now lost a season-worst-tying five consecutive games for the first time since May 11-15.

The TinCaps and Captains conclude their three-game series on Thursday night at 7:00. Fort Wayne right-hander Chris Huffman (3-6, 4.18) is set to start against righty Jordan Milbrath (3-8, 4.83). The game can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380, Box Score, and the TuneIn Radio app.
