Nine faculty and staff members of the University of Saint Francis are now certified in project-based-learning.(July 14, 2015) — Magnify Learning, a service of the Indiana Collaborative for Project Based Learning, has certified nine faculty and staff members from the University of Saint Francis as educators recognized as leaders in project-based-learning (PBL).
Eve-Lynn Clarke, Rebecca Coleman, Andrea Robinson Hinsey, Alan Nauts, Tim Parsley, Brandi Prather-Leming, Melissa Rasmussen, Lori Westropp and Matthew White have all completed PBL certification.
In a project-based-learning classroom, students engage in rigorous, authentic projects that require the utilization of several learning strategies including lecture, audio-visual, demonstration, discussion, personal reading, and practice. The university will be engaging community partners to provide real-world, hands-on learning opportunities. Individuals or organizations interested in partnering with the university should contact Natalie Wagoner, Director of Employer Relations for the University of Saint Francis Career Outreach Center, at 260.399.8059 or nwagoner@sf.edu.
The purpose of Magnify Learning’s educator PBL certification is to establish standards and systems for certifying accomplished educators, to provide support and networks for educators and to engage certified teachers and leaders in on-going professional development. Certified educators are encouraged to become facilitators to help other teachers learn the project-based-learning process.
