Game recap from the TinCaps:

Fort Wayne loses to Dragons, rain

DAYTON, Ohio – (July 18, 2015) – The TinCaps lost to the Dayton Dragons, 8-2, on Saturday night at Fifth Third Field in a game that was called in the top of the eighth inning due to rain. It was the first game of a nine-game road trip for Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne (14-9, 46-45) had the bases loaded with one out and its number five hitter, Franmil Reyes, coming up when the umpires took the players off the field with a heavy rain falling. Bolts of lightning flashed around the ballpark while thunder boomed as well. Just before, first baseman Trae Santos hit an RBI single to score catcher Jose Ruiz, who had started the frame with a double. The game went into a 1 hour, 5-minute delay before being called.

The TinCaps found themselves down 7-0 after the Dragons scored two, two-out, unearned runs in the bottom of the second and then broke the game open with a four-run fourth and another in the fifth.

Dayton (11-12, 50-43) and Fort Wayne traded a run each in the seventh. Third baseman Luis Tejada had an RBI single for the TinCaps.

Dragons starter Tejay Antone (W, 5-7) allowed only one run over six innings, while Chris Huffman (L, 3-6) went the first 3 2/3.

The middle game of this three-game series is set for Sunday afternoon at 2:00. Right-hander Ernesto Montas (9-5, 3.03) is in line to start against lefty Junior Morillo (2-4, 4.98). The game can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380, Box Score, and the TuneIn Radio app.
