NWS: Enhanced Risk for Severe Storms tonight

The Heat Advisory that had been scheduled to go until 9 p.m. tonight has been cancelled for our immediate area, but is still in effect for counties south and west of Allen County.

Tonight’s weather story from the National Weather Service:

Enhanced Risk for Severe Storms tonight

(July 18, 2015) – The remnants of morning thunderstorms in Wisconsin have nearly cleared the forecast area as of 315 pm EDT. However, an outflow boundary will lay out across the forecast area and back into Illinois and Wisconsin where strong to severe thunderstorms are developing. Current trends suggest these will continue to intensify and track southeast towards the area with an increasing threat of damaging winds and torrential rainfall.

As a result the Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the area in an Enhanced Risk for Severe Storms. For those areas outside the storms, hazy hot and conditions will exist, especially along and south of the red line (the outflow boundary). This boundary may drift back north so areas that are currently cooler could rapidly warm up.

Stay alert for the potential of watches and warning.
