News release from TekVenture:

Maker Faire Fort Wayne Announces Call For Makers Deadline Extended to July 15

(July 9, 2015) – Calling all Makers. Don’t forget Maker Faire Fort Wayne is really early this year, just a month away. We’re planning for much warmer weather so the solder should harden, the welds will hold, and it will be easier for the musicians to play. Many Makers have registered but we’re waiting for you!

TekVenture is holding an open house to celebrate Phase II of our project including roll out of additional labs with tools for making things, the opportunity to buy things found in our new home at 1800 Broadway, and tours of the space. Stop in this Saturday, July 11, 10 am – 4 pm to see the exciting things happening at TekVenture. Maybe you’ll get a project idea for the Faire.

As a result of this open house, we decided to extend our Call for Maker registration deadline to July 15 for those new to TekVenture and the Maker Faire. We don’t want to miss out on interesting projects being created in garages and basements across Northeast Indiana and beyond.

We often ask people if they consider themselves to be Makers and they say no. Then we ask do you like to fix things, take things apart or envision ways things can be better, then act on those ideas. Well it turns out they probably are Makers but they didn’t think of themselves in that way. If this sounds like you or you’re neck deep in a project you are really passionate about, come show it off at Maker Faire!

Not finished with your project, even better! You’ll have 16 hours to work on it at the Faire. Plus you’ll have the opportunity to get input from many types of people which could make your project even better!

Either way, stay tuned for event updates. We’re currently looking for attraction ideas such as a unique project built by local Makers, fun art cars, or quirky things in which the public might be interested. There will also be projects to build and Make & Takes for taking home, so visit us at the Maker Faire to see what new skills you might learn.
