Game recap from the TinCaps:

Fort Wayne’s five-game win streak comes to end

MIDLAND, Mich. (June 26, 2015) – TinCaps starter Michael Kelly dazzled for six innings on Friday night, but the Great Lakes Loons walked off in the bottom of the ninth inning to win, 3-2.

Fort Wayne’s (33-37) season-high five-game win streak came to end at Dow Diamond as well.

Kelly cruised through six scoreless innings, striking out three. When he exited, his team led, 1-0. The TinCaps scored that run in the top of the first inning. Nick Torres roped a double down the left-field line — extending his hit streak to 12 games in the process — and later scored when Trae Santos drove a fastball into right field.
Torres now has two separate 12-game hitting streaks this season.

Chris Huffman replaced Kelly on the mound in the bottom of the seventh. Alex Santana led off with a single and then was driven in by Julian Leon to knot the game up at 1-1.

But the visitors responded in the top half of the eighth. In his TinCaps debut, Michael Miller singled to begin the frame. Felipe Blanco bunted him to second, and a Michael Gettys fly-out pushed Miller to third. Torres’ infield single down the third-base line plated Miller to put Fort Wayne back in front by a run.

Great Lakes tied it up once more in the bottom of the eighth and the TinCaps subsequently went down quietly against Loons reliever Scott Griggs (W, 1-0) in the top of the ninth.

Brandon Fry (L, 1-1) retired the first two batters in the bottom half of the inning, but gave up back-to-back walks to Matt Beaty and Leon. Federico Celli then doubled to right-center field to score the game-winning run.
The TinCaps and Loons battle in game three of their four-game set on Saturday. Manager Francisco Morales calls on Brad Wieck (1-0, 3.60) to start. He’s scheduled to face Great Lakes’ Kevin Guzman (4-5, 3.34).

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. You can listen in on ESPN Radio 1380, Box Score, and the TuneIn Radio app starting at 6:45 p.m.
