News release from the Fort Wayne Sport Club:
Kickball Tournament changes venue due to flooding
Fort Wayne Sport Club Underwater – Forces Move to Indian Trails Park(June 23, 2015) – The 4th annual Fort Wayne Sport Club Charity Kickball Tournament will now take place at Indian Trails Park, 10305 Aboite Center Rd (next the Jorgenson Family YMCA) in Fort Wayne starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27th. The proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Turnstone and TOPSoccer. “I know that our participants and team captains have been wondering where we are going to play kickball this Saturday,” stated Dave Bennett, Director of Competitive Sports with the Fort Wayne Sport Club. “Unfortunately, the Sport Club is under water for the most part and the fields will probably not be available for the remainder of the summer. So, we have decided to move the tourney to Indian Trails Park and will be utilizing the entire front portion of the facility.”
The severe weather that northeast Indiana has been experiencing will not deter tournament participants from taking a step back to the playground of their childhood and playing kickball. The fun will go on! Visit the Sport Club website: www.fortwaynesportclub.com/events/kickball-tournament/ for more details on the event.
The Fort Wayne Sport Club is partnering with the Fort Wayne Sport & Social Club (www.facebook.com/fortwaynesocial) this year in an effort to enhance the tournament and create a more ‘festival-like’ atmosphere for the event. New elements are planned for the participants including free dodgeball games starting around noon for anyone. There will be no team required. There will also be a long kick contest going throughout the day with a men’s, women’s and an under-12 winner.
Petal City food truck will be on hand along with special deals from Pizza Hut.
New in 2015 will be the Thursday evening captain’s meeting & celebration at Buffalo Wings & Ribs, 6439 W Jefferson Blvd in Fort Wayne (www.buffalowingsandribs.net). Buffalo Wings & Ribs is also the Scoreboard Sponsor this year, joining Field Sponsors: Adams Radio Group; Crossfit Praus; Fort Wayne Sport & Social Club; Mad Apple Crossfit; PHD, Inc. and Travel Leaders in generously supporting the event.

Today, the Fort Wayne Sport Club is a hub of soccer activity, with programs for recreational and competitive soccer players from age 4-years to 30-and-over. The German culture is celebrated in the many social events enjoyed by club members. “We are extremely proud of our long history and heritage of encouraging participation in soccer at all levels throughout the Fort Wayne area,” remarked Fort Wayne Sport Club President Dan Kruse.
