Game recap from the TinCaps:
TinCaps Cruise to Win Over Bowling Green
(June 19, 2015) – Fort Wayne won its second straight game on Friday night, cruising past the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 5-2. Five different TinCaps drove in runs in front of 7,970 fans, the largest crowd at Parkview Field this season. It was the eighth sellout of 2015.
The home team fell behind in the top of the first. Bowling Green’s first baseman Casey Gillaspie smacked a two-run homer to put his team in front, 2-0.
Fort Wayne cut the deficit in half in the second frame. Franmil Reyes began the inning with a single off of Hot Rods starter Greg Harris (L, 3-5). Two batters later, Luis Tejada drove in Reyes. Tejada has hit safely in each of his first three games with the TinCaps this season.
Nick Torres and Trae Santos collected RBIs in the third inning. Fort Wayne pulled in front, 3-2, heading to the fourth.
This time it was Franchy Cordero who led off the frame with a single, and Michael Gettys drove in his teammate with a double down the left-field line.
The home team built on its 4-2 lead once more in the sixth inning. It was Ruddy Giron who singled in Jose Ruiz to extend the lead to three runs.
TinCaps starter Michael Kelly (W, 3-1) was solid in five innings, scattering just five hits. The bullpen then tossed four scoreless innings, clinched by Colby Blueberg’s team-leading eighth save of the season. For the first time this year, the Carson City, Nevada, native picked up saves on consecutive nights.
The TinCaps vie for their third straight win on Saturday. Manager Francisco Morales calls on Ernesto Montas (5-4, 3.92) to start. He’s scheduled to face Bowling Green’s Hyrum Formo (4-1, 4.45).
First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. You can watch the action on Comcast Network 81 starting at 7:00 p.m. or listen in on ESPN Radio 1380, Box Score, and the TuneIn Radio app starting at 6:45 p.m.
