News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:
Building Fire, 1602 Wells Street
(May 23, 2015) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the Navy Club, 1602 Wells Street. The first unit arrived in 2 minutes finding smoke coming from the rear of the building. Fire crews entered the structure and quickly located the fire and extinguished keeping it from spreading to the main part of the building.
The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The fire was contained to the rear portion of the building and crews remained on the scene searching for extension and ventilating the structure.
The fire remains under investigation.
The FWFD was assisted at the scene by the following agencies: FWPD, TRAA, Neighborhood Code, AEP and Nipsco.
