Tamarah Brownlee Joins IPFW as Director of HR and Institutional Equity

(May 9, 2015) — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) welcomes Tamarah D. Brownlee, MPH, as its new director of Human Resources and Institutional Equity. She begins her duties May 18.

“I am so delighted to join the IPFW team and feel that it is an honor to serve as director of HR and Institutional Equity for an organization that has been rooted in the community for 50 years,” said Brownlee. “After reviewing the 50 reasons to celebrate IPFW, I am left with this impression: I am joining an organization that impacts lives beyond the classroom, which cultivates a caring and supportive environment conducive to learning and growth, and where bright futures begin to give way to an enhanced new way of life.”

In her previous position as human resources manager with Parkview Health, Brownlee redesigned the talent acquisition strategy, which lead to a 35 percent decrease in first year RN turnover. She also coached and mentored the HR staff, resulting in improved customer feedback and a 25 percent increase in overall efficiency.

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Tamarah Brownlee to IPFW,” said David Wesse, vice chancellor for financial and administrative affairs. “She has outstanding skills and experience and shows a deep passion for what she does and for the community we serve. We are delighted that she has agreed to join us.”

Brownlee holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies, both from Indiana University. She is a board member for the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana/Michiana, and is heavily involved with both Genesis Outreach and United Way.

She lives in Fort Wayne with her husband, Albert Brownlee, CEO/executive director of Genesis Outreach, and their four children. Brownlee is also writing her first book, The Key, about living your life with a purpose. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, fashion, theatre/acting, and writing.
