Interactive Workshop Aims to Spark Interest in Engineering for Girl Scouts

(May 7, 2015) — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is hosting the workshop “Wow! That’s Engineering” for area Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes ages 10-13. Admission is free and includes lunch and a badge.

Members of the media are welcome to attend and cover the event.

The workshop is packed full of interactive projects that showcase the creativity and innovation needed to work in the field of engineering.

Attendees will learn about electrical circuits, 3D modeling software, and digital speech processing in a fun, hands-on way. All Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes are welcome to attend Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at IPFW in the Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science Building (ETCS). Attendees will meet in the ETCS lobby. Admission is free and includes lunch and a badge.

Interested scouts who have not already signed up can register on-site Saturday morning.

“Wow! That’s Engineering” is sponsored by the IPFW Society of Women Engineers and Northeast Indiana Society of Women Engineers, with funding from Raytheon and ExxonMobil.
