Death Investigation, 216 W. Woodland Avenue

Details:

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 216 West Woodland Avenue to assist a Community Corrections officer who was at that location to conduct a home inspection.

The Community Corrections officer, during his inspection of the residence, detected a foul odor in the home and inquired into its origin. He became suspicious of the response given him by the two adult occupants and requested Fort Wayne police to assist him with completing the inspection.

The officers were on the second floor of the home when they discovered a body in a bedroom closet. The occupants of the home, a female adult and a male adult, were detained and transported to police headquarters where they are being interviewed by detectives.

It’s not known at this time a gender or age of the deceased. Allen County Prosecutors were on scene and working with detectives to secure a search warrant allowing them to reenter the home. The Allen County Coroner’s office will be conducting an autopsy to determine a cause and manner of death.

This incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s office and the Allen County Coroner’s office.
