News release from the Pillie for Clerk campaign:

Paula Hughes endorses Derek Pillie for City Clerk
Pillie knows technology and communication and that’s what Clerk’s office needs

(March 12, 2015) – Former Allen County Council President and Republican mayoral nominee Paula Hughes made a statement supporting Derek Pillie’s campaign for Fort Wayne City Clerk today. In her endorsement, released via YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/pillieforclerk, Hughes indicated she is supporting Pillie because the clerk’s office requires someone who knows how to utilize technology and communication effectively.

“I’m supporting Derek Pillie because to me the city clerk’s office is all about technology and communication and Derek is known for both of those,” said Hughes. She joins City Councilman Tom Didier who endorsed Pillie’s campaign for City Clerk last week.

“Paula Hughes is an extraordinary leader in our community and I’m thankful to have her support,” said Pillie. “Her experience leading downtown development efforts, serving on our county council and leading our party’s ticket four years ago gives her great perspective on what our community needs in our future leaders.”

Below you’ll find the text of Hughes’s endorsement video in its entirety:

Hi, I’m Paula Hughes. I am a former president of county council and former Republican nominee for mayor and I’m supporting Derek Pillie because to me the city clerk’s office is all about technology and communication and Derek is known for both of those.

I view the city clerk’s office as that crucial link between what happens at city hall and the citizens and I believe we want somebody there who is going to be more effective in making that link, is going to understand how we can use technology to reach our citizens – help citizens be more involved and engaged in what is happening in the city.

I think Derek is the perfect candidate!
