Death Investigation

Date: Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Time: 3:50 p.m.

Location: Hawthorne Street and Webster Street

Deceased: Male Black

Details: Fort Wayne police responded to the intersection of Hawthorne and Webster Streets at approximately 3:50 p.m. this afternoon on a 911 call reporting a shooting. Once on scene officers observed an unresponsive male black face down on Hawthorne west of Webster. The male was lying in front of a gray in color Chevrolet Impala. Fire personnel arrived and pronounced the male dead at the scene.

Detectives and uniformed officers canvassed the area looking for potential witnesses to the incident. It was learned through their efforts that two males were seen running from the area, one to the north and the other to the south. Residents did report hearing multiple gunshots prior to officers’ arrival.

The Chevrolet Impala was towed from the scene for processing and the deceased was taken to the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center where an autopsy will conducted to establish a cause and manner of death. Investigators are asking anyone that might have witnessed the event to contact Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867).

This incident remains under the investigation of the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
