The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded yesterday to a house fire at 306 Fleming Avenue.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 300 block of Fleming Ave. E.
First arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire showing throughout the two story home. Four of the home’s occupants were assisted by a neighbor and were already outside prior to FWFD’s arrival. The occupants were able to tell arriving crews, despite their attempts to reach, one juvenile was still inside. Crews made entry, located and pulled the child to safety. Once outside, firefighters provided medical assistance until medics arrived on scene and took over patient care. One adult and one child were transported. The adult was treated for minor injuries and released. The child was transported in critical condition. At the time of this report, no further condition updates have been provided.
Firefighters were able to control the fire in approximately 32 minutes. FWPD, TRAA, NIPSCO, AEP and Neighborhood Code assisted at the scene.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
