NWS: Gusty southwesterly winds to bring blowing and drifting snow

 

 

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement:

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTHERN INDIANA
1131 AM EST TUE FEB 24 2015

…GUSTY SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS TO BRING BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW…

SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 35 MPH WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS…CAUSING AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. THE GREATEST IMPACTS WILL BE SEEN IN RURAL AREAS WITH SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS WILL ALSO ADD TO THE CONCERNS…LOCALLY LOWERING VISIBILITIES FURTHER.

MOTORISTS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION INTO THIS AFTERNOON IN AREAS PRONE TO IMPACTS FROM BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND SLOW DOWN.
