Shooting Investigation

Details:
On Friday Feburary 13th, 2015 at approximately 10:05 pm Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1500 block of W. Fourth St. in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival it was determined that some sort of negligent discharge involving a gun took place and a five year old female was struck in the face.
She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The occupants of the residence were taken to the Police Operation Center for questioning. Crime scene began to process the scene. Per Department policy all deaths are treated as homicides until proven otherwise.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroners Office.
