CLHS students take top honors at DECA competition
(February 12, 2015) – Eleven students from Concordia Lutheran High School’s DECA program took top honors in the District Competition and are eligible to compete at the state level in March.
The following students placed in the competition on Jan. 31 and will compete in Indianapolis from March 8-10:
- Junior Meron Tamene, first place, Principles of Marketing
- Sophomore Ivoryona Dickey, first place, Principles of Business Administration
- Senior Jay Patel, first place, Accounting Applications
- Juniors Shrina Patel and Heather Klinger, third place, Buying and Merchandising Team
- Sophomores Emily Lahey and Kyla Macaraig, second place, Travel and Tourism Team
- Seniors Hannah Hobby and Hampton Churchill-Brooks, first place, Hospitality Services Team
- Seniors Ale Bohnke and Alena Lahey, fifth place, Hospitality Services Team
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Members will leverage their DECA experiences to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. Competence, innovation, integrity and teamwork are valued.
