Pam Downs announces candidacy

(February 3, 2015) – Local restaurateur Pam Downs today filed in the Democratic Primary to represent Fort Wayne’s Third City Council District.

“My family is entrenched in this city” said Downs “I am so proud of the 28 years we served residents of this area at Hartley’s, the restaurant my father Hartley McCleod Sr. and brother Hartley Mcleod Jr. started in 1983. Dad implemented a strong work ethic in me from a very early age and I will carry that to the Council table.”

Downs is a graduate of Fort Wayne’s North Side High School and The New York Restaurant School where she studied Culinary Arts. She continued advancing her culinary expertise when she studied in Florence, Italy with Gulianno Buglial the famous chef, teacher and author of Italian Cuisine.

Downs looks forward to utilizing the vast small business experience and years of working with the citizens of Fort Wayne to be an effective representative of the third district. “I’ve had the privilege during my many years in the restaurant industry” stated Downs, “to meet hundreds and hundreds Fort Wayne residents. I know they want and need a representative who actively listens to them, who advocates for them and who envisions a prosperous third district. I am that person.”

Committed to many community endeavors, Downs is proud of the organizations she has worked with and supported over the years including “Chef’s on Stage’ through Community Food Harvest Bank, the March of Dimes, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Auctions, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Christ Child Society, ‘Meet your Neighbor’ through Trinity United Methodist Church, Little River Wetlands and many more.
