…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS MORNING…

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 1 PM EST SATURDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 1 PM EST SATURDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER…

* WIND CHILLS WILL FALL TO BETWEEN 15 BELOW AND 25 BELOW TODAY AND THEN CONTINUE IN THAT RANGE THROUGH MIDDAY SATURDAY.

* SNOW SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF THIS MORNING.

* ACCUMULATIONS…STORM TOTAL…1 TO 3 INCHES.

* STRONG WEST WINDS WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES THIS MORNING.

IMPACTS…

* PROLONGED COLD…ANY EXPOSED SKIN WILL BE PRONE TO FROST BITE.

* ROADS WILL BE SNOW COVERED AND HAZARDOUS THIS MORNING. REDUCED VISIBILITIES WILL ALSO CREATE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING… ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS…MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
