The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from January 8, 05:00 PM EST until January 9, 10:00 AM EST:

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST FRIDAY…

HAZARDOUS WEATHER…

* WIND CHILLS WILL GENERALLY RANGE BETWEEN 5 BELOW AND 20 BELOW THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.

* SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR EARLY THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE INTO TONIGHT. THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED THIS EVENING. THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF OVERNIGHT.

* ACCUMULATIONS…1 TO 3 INCHES.

* STRONG SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

IMPACTS…

* PROLONGED COLD…ANY EXPOSED SKIN WILL BE PRONE TO FROST BITE.

* ROADS WHICH WERE PREVIOUSLY CLEARED WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND HAZARDOUS AGAIN BY TONIGHT…CONTINUING INTO FRIDAY MORNING. REDUCED VISIBILITIES WILL ALSO CREATE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING… ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.
