Cold air and snow into next week

(January 3, 2015) – A harsh winter period will begin this week with high temperatures dropping into the single digits and overnight lows below freezing. We are expecting lake effect snowfall accumulation of 2 to 4 inches on Sunday and Monday in the typical lake effect areas with another several inches of accumulation expected for the entire forecast area on Monday Night. Winds will be fairly strong through this cold stretch and will cause a few periods of very cold wind chills. Wind chills will fall to -10 to -15F Sunday night and Monday and they will fall to -20 to -30F Wednesday and Wednesday night.
