News release from the Mad Ants:

Mad Ants Acquire D-Fender’s Hyman

(December 27, 2014) – The Fort Wayne Mad Ants acquired seven foot center Travis Hyman from the Los Angeles D-Fenders today in a trade between the two teams. The Ants also received the D-Fenders sixth round pick in the 2015 draft for the Mad Ants third round pick in the 2015 draft and the rights to center Tim Ohlbrecht. This deal is conditioned on Hyman passing a physical.

Hyman is a native of Annapolis, Maryland, and he played his college ball at Bowie State. He was drafted in the second round of the 2012 NBA D-League draft by the Tulsa 66ers. Travis was eventually acquired by the D-Fenders, and he enjoyed his best season last year when he averaged 6.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game in 18.1 minutes of action.

Hyman will provide needed depth and a big body who can protect the rim behind starting center Will Frisby. Hyman is expected to join the team on Sunday in Fort Wayne, but his availability for the 5 pm game against the Austin Spurs will depend on what time he arrives to town.

The Mad Ants will travel to Grand Rapids this Saturday, December 20th for a 7:00 p.m. match-up with the Drive. Fans can purchase Mad Ants tickets anytime, which start at just $6, at the Memorial Coliseum Box Office, by visiting www.ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
