News release from Greater Fort Wayne, Inc.:

Deister Machine Company, Inc. Continues to Grow in Fort Wayne

(December 18, 2014) – Deister Machine Company, Inc. is investing in new equipment and employees. The company will purchase two new large CNC lathes and a 750-ton x 24′ long press brake, the largest of its kind in Indiana, according to Deister’s spokesperson. Deister Machine Company will hire 110 new employees by 2018, adding to its existing workforce of 181 employees.

“Because our company has been operating continuously in Fort Wayne since its 1912 incorporation, we are very pleased to keep growing here,” said company president E. Mark Deister. “God has always blessed the business, from the beginning through the present, with third and fourth generation Deisters currently involved in daily operations. Thanks partly to the incentive package that we will receive from three significant City entities, we will not only be able to remain steady but increase our strong presence in this thriving community.”

Deister has been a family-owned and operated business for more than one hundred years. The company focuses entirely on its core business, providing feeding, scalping, and screening equipment to the aggregate and mining industry. Deister equipment operates in all 50 states and is widely distributed in Mexico, Canada, and in many countries throughout Latin America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

“Indiana’s strong economy, fiscal responsibility and pro-growth policies make days like this possible,” said Governor Mike Pence. “Today’s announcement includes some of the nation’s fastest growing companies, and they have all either launched in Indiana or are choosing to move here. From tech developers to manufacturing powerhouses, the collective energy of these Hoosier businesses will help power our economy into 2015, creating jobs, promoting opportunities and investing in our future.”

The company will be receiving an incentive package, valued at $1,349,364, from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Northeast Indiana Works, and the City of Fort Wayne. The project will qualify for a 10-year investment deduction of real and personal property taxes, due to the location of the facility in the Urban Enterprise Zone.

“I’m encouraged by the unprecedented momentum and private investment that we’ve been experiencing in Fort Wayne,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “Deister Machine Company is making a significant commitment to adding new equipment and jobs. We appreciate their willingness to make a meaningful difference in our community as we work together to be an economic leader in our region.”

“The Fort Wayne UEA is very encouraged by the substantial investment in equipment and new employees that Deister Machine Company, Inc. is making in the heart of the Fort Wayne Enterprise Zone,” stated Gina Kostoff, Executive Director of the Urban Enterprise Association. “Investments like the one the 102-year-old Deister Machine Company Inc. is making are critical to the continued economic and physical revitalization of the UEZ and serve as a catalyst for future business development in the Enterprise Zone.”
