Fourth Omnibus speaker added: Anthony Chan, chief economist for Chase, will present on March 4, 2015

(October 21, 2014) — Anthony Chan, chief economist for Chase, will take the stage on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in the 20th season of the Omnibus Lecture Series at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). He will speak on “The Global Economy.”

Chan joined JPMorgan Chase in 1994 and currently serves as the Chief Economist for Chase. He is also a member of several forecasting panels, including the Blue Chip Monthly Forecasting panel, the National Association of Business Economists Quarterly Macro Panel, and the Reuters, Bloomberg and Dow Jones Weekly Economic Indicator panels. He was previously an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Senior Economist at Barclays de Zoete Wedd Government Securities. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland.

Chan has been quoted in many media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and Investor’s Daily. He appears monthly on CNBC and other media outlets such as Bloomberg TV and public television’s Nightly Business Report.

 

About the Omnibus Lecture Series

The Omnibus Lecture Series is dedicated to presenting diverse ideas through respected speakers to northeast Indiana. The Omnibus Lecture Series has been supported by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation since 1995. The 2014-15 season media sponsors are WANE-TV NewsChannel 15 and 89.1 WBOI NPR news and diverse music.

Free tickets are required for all Omnibus Lectures. Tickets will be available three weeks prior to each event and may be obtained:

  • IN PERSON at the Larson Ticket Office in the Gates Athletics Center, 12:30-6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • ONLINE through the box office website (with a $1 convenience fee to cover order processing costs)
  • DAY OF EVENT in the Rhinehart Music Center one hour before the lecture (if seats are still available)
    Patrons can also visit omnibuslectures.org/tickets for complete ticketing information.

Each lecture takes place in The John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center’s 1,600-seat Auer Performance Hall on the IPFW campus. Doors open one hour before the each lecture. Campus parking is free and convenient. The 1,000-space parking garage 3 is located in the Fine Arts Plaza to serve Omnibus audiences. Patrons should arrive early to allow plenty of time for traffic and parking, as the series and other events on campus may draw large crowds.

This year’s Omnibus Lecture Series season takes place during IPFW’s 50th Celebration.
