Off-roaders “jeep” for military charity Oct. 11th
(October, 2014) — For the ninth consecutive year, O’ Daniel Automotive Group is hosting an all day family-friendly Jeep Jam on Saturday, Oct. 11 – Indiana’s largest fundraiser to benefit Military Families.
Jeep enthusiasts can spend a day off-roading at Kessie Jeep Farm and Speedway Gravel in South Whitley, but space is limited to the first 300 registered drivers.
The fundraiser attracts Jeepers from the tri-state area and all across the Midwest – even as far as Delaware. “People invest in Jeeps for adventures like these! So we’ve designed an event that gives them a chance to rule the open road, and have some fun while supporting our troops and veterans,” said Craig Ruskaup, Jeep Jam organizer and O’ Daniel Jeep sales manager.
“These properties are off-road heaven – with trails to fit every comfort level. But there’s no need to damage your Jeep here unless you’re really trying to!”
Online registration is required in advance via odzjeepjam.com. The participation fee is a $50 donation per jeep, which includes all passengers.
The schedule of events is:
6:30-8 a.m.- Off-road check-in and registration at O’ Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 5611 Illinois Road
8:15 a.m.- Blessing of the Jeeps
8:30 a.m.- Escorted Parade by the Patriot Guard
9:30 a.m.- Safety Instruction
9:40 a.m.- 3 p.m.- Off-roading
3-3:30 p.m.- Meeting at Meijer off Illinois Road for Escorted Parade to Headwaters ParkAfter five hours of fun on four wheels, the public and military supporters can join Jeep Jam participants for a special post-event, which takes place from 4-8 p.m. at Headwaters Park in downtown Fort Wayne for the very first time.
Josh Gracin, “American Idol” Season 2 finalist and former Marine, will take a break from his Drink it Gone tour to support the cause with live music at Headwaters Park. He’s had three Top 5 singles on the billboard charts including “We Weren’t Crazy,” and “Long Way to Go.”
Other special highlights include entertainment from the local band Breaking Tradition, food, beer provided by the Rusty Spur Saloon, canine police and SWAT demos, veteran group displays, a silent auction, and a chance to join the largest custom Jeep/Mopar show in the Midwest. Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Eagle, Jeep, AMC and other Mopar cars or trucks are eligible to participate at Headwaters parking lot.
Kids can enjoy a fire truck display, carnival games, Jeep pedal cart races, an early visit from Santa Claus, and much more.
The American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana blood mobile will also be on-site to take blood donations anytime from 4-7:30 p.m.
The day will commence at 8:15 p.m. with fireworks provided by Camtor Pyrotechnics & 3 Kings Carpet Plus
The after party is just $5, but admission to the car show is free. Tickets are available online or day of. Military is free with valid ID, and children ages 13 and younger are free.
All Jeep Jam proceeds benefit the Military Families program that works with the National Guard and Northeast Indiana Military Assistance Network to reach out to those with loved ones deployed. Funds will also support returning soldiers with job placement, emergency housing and reintegration back into civilian life.
Since its inception, Jeep Jam has raised more than $100,000 for local military charities.
